Introduction:
Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the State has always placed teaching materials development for primary schools, secondary schools and colleges high on its agenda. As official publishers, the People’s Education Press and the Higher Education Press have always kept pace with the time while remaining rooted in the cause of education and service to society. Over the past seven decades and more, the two Presses have made great contributions to the development and advancement of China’s basic, vocational and higher education by researching, developing and publishing a large number of high-quality textbooks with Chinese characteristics and a spirit of innovation. Both Presses have realized the goals of cultivating souls and enlightening the wisdom of people to manifest the fruits of education reforms and cater for the needs of learning and teaching.
This exhibition features selected textbooks for primary and secondary schools published by the People’s Education Press and Higher Education Press, among others, and showcases the remarkable achievements in the development and publication of textbooks throughout the history of the People’s Republic of China. The Exhibition invites visitors to experience the educational value of “Small Textbooks Carrying Great Significance for the Nation”, thereby promoting exchanges and interactions between the education and academic sectors in Hong Kong and Chinese mainland, fostering patriotism and celebrating the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.
