ARchi HK

Title:
ARchi HK
Goals & purposes:
The mobile app and online platform intends to utilize the effect of STEAM education for appreciating art and cultural heritage through teacher curatorship with multi-media resources.

An online learning platform is created to allow both the teacher and the students to facilitate innovative learning and assessment via this system. The mobile app also enhances and aids teaching especially during external field trips. Students will be engaged in peer commenting and appreciating of each other’s work on the online platform, effectively enhancing the experience of evaluation as well as their social interaction and communication skills.

Students will therefore not only appreciate local buildings’ history and aesthetics with the enhanced mobile app, but also simultaneously comment and discuss on artworks and heritages. They will also be able to play an interactive game on the field trip via the mobile app.
Summary:
This mobile app is intended for the public and students to appreciate modern architectural heritage in Hong Kong, mainly those built from the 1920s-1950s. Primarily developed to enhance the field trip experience for university students, it also embodies augmented reality (AR) and GPS locations so all public users can easily locate neighbouring sites of modern architectural heritage around them and appreciate their historical, social and aesthetic contexts in a user-friendly way. The mobile app will therefore construct knowledge actively through negotiation with the buildings and heritage sites and aim at enhancing awareness and understanding towards modern architecture in Hong Kong.
