E-learning package for developing gender awareness and sensitivity in English language classroom
Goals & purposes:
The purposes of this e-learning package are three-fold:
1. To help students demonstrate a sound and critical understanding of key concepts and current issues of language and gender, especially gender representation in language textbooks as well as gender and classroom interaction
2. To motivate students to analyze the construction of gender in the classroom;
3. To facilitate students to develop awareness of and sensitivity to gender implication of English language use in the classroom setting
Summary:
The e-learning package consists of four parts:
1. Warm up activities to arouse the gender awareness in English language classroom (three videos for a total of 12 minutes with EdPuzzle questions)
2. Recorded lectures to elaborate the key theory and methods on the topic (2 videos for about 30 minutes with Edpuzzle questions)
3. Group project on Padlet to allow peer learning and collaboration to understand and enhance students’ understanding on the topic by doing a project collaboratively and share findings on Padlet to encourage peer learning (do it as a group by upload mindmap, research paper, summary of the paper, voting for the best three)
4. Moodle forum to allow individual student to discuss on the topic and enhance an in-depth understanding of this topic
