Library Service Arrangement Updates (Effective 7/3/2022)

To all Library Users:

In view of the latest pandemic situation, the following changes will be implemented from Monday, 7 March 2022 onward and until further notice:

Tseung Kwan O Study Centre Library and all service counters at Mong Man Wai (MMW) Library will be closed earlier at 5:00 pm on Monday to Saturday. All service counters at MMW Library will also be closed on Sunday and public holidays. When the counters at MMW Library are closed earlier or closed on Sunday and public holidays, other areas of MMW Library will remain open in self-service mode according to their original opening hours.

All counters in both libraries will continue to implement “call-for-service” mode under which counter staff will work at back offices and will provide on-site assistance if needed during counter service hours, provided that we have sufficient staff members on site.

For Alumni Members, External Members and JULAC Library Card holders:

Due to shortage of manpower caused by the pandemic, from Thursday, 10 March 2022 onward and until further notice, Tseung Twan O Study Centre Library will be open for access by EdUHK students and staff only. In addition, Alumni Members and External Members holding valid “Library Borrower” or “Library Reader” cards of EdUHK Library as well as holders of valid JULAC Library Cards are still required to register at least 2 days in advance (excluding Sunday and holidays) for visiting Mong Man Wai Library on Tai Po Campus on a first-come-first-served basis. Those who have not registered successfully in advance will not be allowed to enter the campus. Each cardholder must present his/her EdUHK Library Borrower/Library Reader card or JULAC Library Card at the main entrance of the campus and at entrance/counter of Library. Other University facilities will remain closed to Alumni Members, External Members and JULAC Library Card holders until further notice.

Please also note the following campus access requirements imposed by the University:

  • Starting from 24 February 2022, all library visitors must have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine in order to gain the campus access.  In addition, those who are not fully vaccinated (i.e. they have not received 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccine for more than 14 days prior to the day of campus entry) will be required to provide a negative COVID-19 test result issued within 3 days prior to the day of campus entry.  Those who are unvaccinated will be required to provide a valid medical certificate as proof of being unfit for vaccination and a negative COVID-19 test result issued within 3 days prior to the day of campus entry.
  • Also starting from 24 February 2022, all library visitors entering the campus areas must use the “Leave Home Safe” Mobile App and must present a blue QR code with either Electronic Vaccination Record or Exemption Certificate for inspection at the entrance.
  • Starting from 31 March 2022, all library visitors must have received two doses of COVID-19 vaccine for more than 14 days prior to the day of campus entry to fulfill the enhanced requirement.  Those who are not fully vaccinated (i.e. they have not received 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccine for more than 14 days prior to the day of campus entry) will be required to provide a negative COVID-19 test result issued within 3 days prior to the day of campus entry.  Those who are unvaccinated will be required to provide a valid medical certificate as proof of being unfit for vaccination and provide a negative COVID-19 test results within 3 days prior to the day of campus entry.
