EdU LibMap In-door Positioning App

The Library is pleased to present its in-door positioning app EdU LibMap for use within Mong Man Wai Library. EdUHK Library users can now download EdU LibMap directly from App Store or Google Play. Once installed on their iOS or Android mobile devices (e.g. mobile phones or tablets) with Bluetooth function turned on, when our users search EdUHK Library collections and select to “locate” a particular item on the browser of their mobile devices, they will be prompted to launch EdU LibMap which will display the exact shelving location of that item on a detailed MMW Library floor map. EdU LibMap can also display the current locations of the users if they are physically inside MMW Library.

EdU LibMap operates with Beacon technology which is a Proximity System based on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Over 200 beacons have been installed on all floors of MMW Library to transmit positioning signals and to detect locations of individual users holding Bluetooth enabled mobile devices.
