Special Library Service Arrangements for the Rest of the 1st Semester of 2019/20

In relation to the interruption of classes since 11 November 2019 and the cancellation of all face-to-face teaching for the rest of the 1st Semester, the Library is making special arrangements as follows:

1. Return of Library Items, Pick-Up of Requested Items and Waive of Fines

All borrowed library items (including HKALL materials) can be returned by 9 January 2020 (i.e. one week after 2nd Semester begins). All overdue fines incurred during this period will be waived.

Users can continue to make request for EdUHK Library items borrowed by other users. However, they should take into account that some items may not be returned until 9 January 2020. On the other hand, if users cannot return items which have been requested by other users and therefore have their library privileges blocked automatically by system, please contact our Circulation Counter at 2948-6658 during counter operation hours or e-mail libcir@eduhk.hk for assistance.

Inter-campus delivery service will remain normal although users should be prepared for potential delays due to unpredictable situations. Users can continue to return borrowed items at either Mong Man Wai Library (MMW) on Tai Po Campus or the Tseung Kwan O Study Centre Learning Commons (TKO).

Items in the Self Pick-Up Stations will be returned to the book shelf or released to the next user in line, if any, as the dates specified in the pick-up notification.

For further assistance in relation to loans, returns and requests, or special requests such as extension of the pick-up date, please contact the Library Circulation Counter by phone at 2948-6658 during Library counter operation hours or by email to libcir@eduhk.hk.

2. HKALL, Inter-Library Loan and JULAC Library Card Access

For HKALL, the service is subject to availability of individual UGC-funded institution libraries. As noted in the previous section, all HKALL items should be returned to MMW or TKO by 9 January 2020.

Although inter-library loan requests for articles and book chapters in general will remain normal, requests for book items will probably be affected.

EdUHK staff and students holding JULAC Library Cards should check with other UGC-funded institution libraries on any special arrangements for items borrowed with their JULAC Library Cards. They should also check for latest updates beforehand if they plan to visit other UGC-funded institution libraries in person.

Please check the Library Website (https://www.lib.eduhk.hk/) for our latest updates. Library services and operating schedule may be affected without prior notice due to unpredictable circumstances.

Should you need any further assistance, please contact us via the Ask a Librarian service (https://www.lib.eduhk.hk/askalib/) or email to libinfo@eduhk.hk.

Thank you for your attention and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.
