Library Special Service Arrangements before Face-to-Face Classes Resume on Campus

Return of Overdue EdUHK Library Items, Pick-Up of Requested Items and Waive of Overdue Fines

We have announced earlier that all overdue EdUHK Library items can be returned tentatively on or before Saturday, 10 October 2020. Although the University has announced on 22 July 2020 that online mode of learning and teaching will be adopted for Semester 1 of 2020/21 because of the latest development of the pandemic, the above return of overdue item arrangement (i.e. latest by 10 October 2020) will not be further extended in order to cater for the needs of those users who have been waiting for months to use these overdue items. All overdue fines incurred between 29 January and 10 October 2020 will continue to be waived. Overdue fines will be incurred if borrowers fail to return their overdue loans by 10 October 2020. For loan items with due dates fall after 10 October 2020, they should be returned by their due dates. For final year students and departing colleagues, please return all library materials before you leave the University for good. We also request other borrowers to return their overdue items as soon as they have chances to come back to campus.

Users can continue requesting for EdUHK Library items borrowed by other users. However, they should note that some items may not be returned until the date specified above. Items in the Self Pick-Up Stations will be returned to bookshelves or released to the next user in line, if any, on the dates specified in the pick-up notifications.

For further assistance in relation to loans, returns and requests, as well as special requests such as extension of pick-up date or borrowers who cannot return items which have been requested by other users and therefore have their library privileges blocked automatically by system, please contact the Circulation Counter by phone at 2948-6658 or by email to libcir@eduhk.hk.

HKALL, Inter-Library Loan and JULAC Library Card Access to Other UGC-funded Institution Libraries

HKALL service is subject to availability of individual UGC-funded institution libraries. So far all HKALL items returned will not be subject to overdue fines incurred since late January 2020 when COVID-19 broke out. However, different UGC-funded institutions have resumed classes on their campuses on different dates, and may demand their books loaned to members of other libraries via HKALL to be returned on specific dates. EdUHK Library users who fail to return HKALL books on time as demanded by the host library will be subject to overdue fines thus incurred. They should also note that HKALL items cannot be auto-renewed by system and these items should be manually renewed before their due dates.

For inter-library loans, although requests for articles and book chapters in general will remain normal, requests for book items will probably be affected.

EdUHK staff and students holding JULAC Library Cards should check with other JULAC libraries on any special arrangements for items borrowed with their JULAC Library Cards. They should also check for latest updates beforehand if they plan to visit other JULAC libraries in person.

Please check Library Website for the latest updates. Library services and opening hours may be affected without prior notice due to unpredictable pandemic situation. Should you need further assistance, please contact our Information Counter by phone at 2948-6653 or email libinfo@eduhk.hk.
