Library Service Enhancements
The Library has considered and reviewed carefully comments and suggestions on library services made by students and colleagues from different channels, e.g. the recent LibQUAL+ survey, consultative meetings with library users, suggestions made to library counters, etc. With the support of Library Management Committee, we are pleased to introduce the following major service enhancements in the coming months.
Maximum Loan Period of 30-Day Loans by EdUHK Students and Staff Extended to Unlimited (on trial for 1 year)
With effect from Monday, 3 July 2023, the “Maximum Loan Period after Renewals” of 30-day loans by EdUHK Undergraduate and Sub-degree Students, as well as EdUHK Staff Other Than Academic Staff & Administrative Staff of Equivalent Status will be extended from 240 days to unlimited. In other words, unless a request or recall has been made by other users, Circulation Books borrowed by these users will be automatically renewed by the library system until the last day before the users leave the University.
The new arrangement will be reviewed by Library Management Committee after one year.

All loans with a loan period of 14 days or more may be renewed up to the maximum loan period specified below unless a hold or a recall has been placed.

Drinks Allowed in All Areas of Library (on trial for one year)
To provide a cozier learning and teaching environment for our students and colleagues, also starting from Monday, 3 July 2023, in addition to The Lounge on G/F and EI Hub on LP/F of Mong Man Wai Library, library users may consume non-alcoholic drinks in spill-proof containers in all areas of MMW Library and Tseung Kwan O Study Centre Library. However, food is still not allowed in areas other than The Lounge and EI Hub for protection of library collections and facilities.
This new arrangement will also be reviewed by Library Management Committee after one year.

The Librarian may from time to time designate specific areas of the Library for consumption of food and drinks by library users. Subject to conditions as stipulated in the Library’s “Food and Drink Policy”, drinks are allowed in all areas of the Library. Food is only allowed in area(s) designated by the Librarian, and must not be brought into other areas of the Library. For details, please refer to the “Food and Drink Policy” posted on Library Website. |

Library users may consume the following types of drinks in all areas of the Library: Non-alcoholic drinks in cans, paper packs, bottles, disposal cups with lids and other spill-proof containers. Spill-proof containers include bottles with twist-on lids, sport bottles and thermos bottles. Other types of drinks must not be brought into MMW Library and Tseung Kwan O Study Centre Library. |
MMW Library Opening Hours Extended to 10pm on Saturday during Term Time
To better support students with classes on Saturday, starting from Saturday, 12 August 2023, Saturday opening hours of 1/F to 4/F, MMW Library will be extended from 08:30-19:00 to 08:30-22:00, i.e., until 10:00 pm. Closing time of all library counters will remain unchanged at 19:00. The new opening hours of MMW Library during Term Time are as follows:
