Facility Upgrades at MMW Library
In addition to service enhancements mentioned in Library Circular No. 5/2023, the Library will also implement the following facility upgrades in this summer.
Future Classrooms
Creative Lab on G/F:
- New high-end notebooks for students and instructor
- New height-adjustable lectern for instructor
- Fixed benches will be removed to create more open space for grouping and other teaching activities
Creative Arts Room, Future Early Childhood & Primary Classroom, Special Education Room on 1/F:
- New ceiling mic arrays for remote teaching and hybrid classes
e-Learning Studio, STEM Room on 2/F:
- Additional inputs for wireless mics will be provided to facilitate presentations and sharing by students
IT and Media Production Facilities
VR-AR-Media Workstations on G/F:
- New high-end notebooks with external 2K monitors to facilitate AR, VR and media production
Discussion Zone on 1/F:
- New 4K monitors and desktop PCs, more powerful notebooks will be provided at all Group Discussion Rooms and Group Discussion Tables
Media Production Centre on 3/F:
- Will add 2 more Mac Studios
Research Commons on 4/F:
- Notebooks will be added to all Study Carrels without a desktop PC
All computer and media stations on different floors:
- Height-adjustable armrests will be added to workstation chairs to provide better ergonomics
All floors:
- New power outlets with USB Type A and Type C outlets will be installed on most study tables on all floors and Study Carrels on 4/F
- New charging tables which support recharging of tablets have been added on all floors
Facilities for Discussion and Napping
In response to users’ requests for additional places for group/private discussion and napping:
- Four 4-seat sound booths will be set up: 2 units on G/F which will be available on 24-hour basis; another 2 units on 1/F
- Additional easy chairs will be set up on G/F
