This workshop introduces a range of AI-powered research tools subscribed by the Library, alongside selected free online platforms, to support your study and research needs. Participants will learn how to effectively integrate these tools with Library databases to enhance academic performance and achieve research excellence.

Discover how publishing your research in open-access platforms can maximize visibility, increase citations, and broaden your impact within and beyond academia. This workshop will introduce the benefits, key strategies, and practical tools to help you navigate open access publishing with confidence.

InCites Journal Citation Reports (JCR) and Sources session of Scopus database are major platforms that give us figures and tools for research publication evaluation. We will focus on journal level metrics, including journal ranking, journal impact factor, and other indicators offered by these databases. We will investigate how these indicators mean to research evaluation.

This workshop will cover all the tricks, secrets, practical searching skills and everything you need to know on locating the books, journal articles, audio-visual materials, reports and dissertations quickly and effectively.

Other than the information available in the library collection, what else can you search for Hong Kong history? This workshop shows you where to go in the Internet.

To cover the basics of academic honesty, this workshop will show you how plagiarism can easily be avoided in research and studies with different examples of using information ethically. Proper methods in writing citations in research papers and assignments will also be demonstrated.

Find out how you can locate dissertations and theses effectively from local and international universities that are relevant to your research work by using both Library and web resources. Database research skills for writing literature reviews will be presented, covering English and Chinese language materials.

Learn how to use the Library’s e-newspapers databases including WisersOne, South China Morning Post, Factiva, and other Internet resources to locate news articles.

RefWorks is an online research materials manager that can help you manage and store the information resources that you need for your coursework and research. In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to create an account, export and import references and citations, organize references into folders, insert in-text references and create a bibliography in APA or other citation styles into a Word document by using a software tool, Write-N-Cite. You will be introduced to the new version of RefWorks in this workshop.

This workshop will introduce two citation databases – Web of Science and Scopus. We will discuss how this kind of citation database can help in our research idea exploration.
